Fans With Bands
On each show we bring together a band and some fans to talk about music, life, and whatever the hell else we want to talk about. It can be difficult to have a conversation with your favorite band at a show or online. We bring the fans together with the bands for a more in depth conversation.

Budahas
Wednesday Apr 20, 2022
Wednesday Apr 20, 2022
On this episode we chat with Erik, Matt, and Matt of Budahas. Their album called Explore is an awesome collection of big riffs that take on the stories of explorers such as Lewis and Clark, Erikson, and Cortez. Imagine Clutch or Kyuss writing a song about Columbus and you’ll get the drift.
During our chat we delved into the origins of the Budahas as well as songwriting and influences. We hit on our favorite topics such as first albums and concerts. We also talked about who we all would love to share a beverage with. As usual, we talked about our favorite topic of controversy, pizza toppings.

Among These Ashes
Wednesday Apr 06, 2022
Wednesday Apr 06, 2022
On this episode we talk with Joe, Hiran, and Richard from Among These Ashes. Their debut release called Dominion Enthroned is a blazing album of power metal that favors cutting riffs and vocals with a focus on metallic intensity. If you dig bands such as Iced Earth and Sanctuary, you’ll love Among These Ashes.
While talking with the guys in Among These Ashes we learned about how the band got started and where the music from their debut album came from. Our conversation got into pre-show rituals and musical pilgrimages. As always, we dug into our favorite topic of controversy; pizza toppings.

Bubak
Wednesday Mar 23, 2022
Wednesday Mar 23, 2022
On this episode we chat with Jeff and Justin of Bubak. This two piece drum and bass (which sounds like a guitar and bass - not sure what kind of witchcraft is at work here) crank out burly riffs of stoner / doom magic. Bubak’s latest release Vol. 3 is on regular rotation.
During our chat we delved into the origins of the name Bubak (it is a scary story) as well as how the band handles song writing. Along those lines we talked about the importance of recording every practice to ensure you don’t lose that epic riff. While Bubak don’t have immediate plans to record a new album, they are looking to hit the stage again this Spring and Summer. They also have a lot of new merch for fans that have been clamoring for new shirts, patches, and such. As usual, we touched on our favorite topic of controversy, pizza toppings.
Now, sit back, grab your favorite beverage and check out this fun conversation with Bubak.

Lucius Fox
Wednesday Mar 09, 2022
Wednesday Mar 09, 2022
On this episode we chat with Jeremy and Paul of Lucius Fox. In a very informal poll on Facebook, I’d asked “What band should I get on Fans With Bands?” and the winner was Lucius Fox. After delving into their latest release called Red Giant, I knew I had to talk with them soon. Their music is ultra progressve and deeply fascinating with plenty of heaviness and an overall aura of “Wow”.
We had a lot of great conversations with the fans adding some excellent questions that got us into the songwriting process for Lucius Fox as well as riff naming (Boi). We learned that apparently Paul hates metal singing which is why Lucius Fox is instrumental only. Our chat included going around the horn with everyone’s current playlists (see list of links below). As usual, we touched on our favorite topics such as first albums and of course pizza.
If you are in Kalamazoo on March 18th, you can go see Lucius Fox at Bell’s Eccentric Cafe with Drink Their Blood. On March 19th, head up to the Avenue Cafe in Lansing and see Lucius Fox as part of a killer lineup on Oigs Fest.
Now, sit back, grab your favorite beverage and check out this fun conversation with Lucius Fox and friends.

Mike Ward
Wednesday Feb 23, 2022
Wednesday Feb 23, 2022
On this episode we chat with singer/songwriter Mike Ward and fans Steve, Danny, Lori, and Angela. Mike’s most recent release called The Darkness and The Light is a showcase of brilliant stories full of emotion and played to perfection. I was reminded of Jason Isbell in that Mike is fearless in his songwriting and has the same rich vocal timbre. During our chat we got the backstory on what he means by “Psycho songs” as well as insight into how his craft of songwriting and how he got started.
Mike is putting the finishing touches on his new record which should be released later this year. We talked a bit about some of the video shoots he’s collaborated on with his son Danny. It wouldn’t be a true Fans With Bands episode without getting into favorite topics such as first albums. As always, we wrapped it up with a discussion on pizza toppings.
If you are near Detroit, be sure to catch Mike live at the Corktown Music Festival in Detroit on March 4th at the Gaelic League at 8pm. Be sure to get the two day pass to the Corktown Music Festival on March 4th and 5th as you can check out a wide variety of bands including some Fans with bands alumni such as Ladyship Warship, Warhorses, The Whiskey Charmers, and Edison Hollow. Tickets are a low dough 20$ for the two day pass featuring over 70 bands.

Wednesday Feb 09, 2022
We had a laugh riot with Joe, Hiran, Tony, John, Dan, and Mike from Finality. Joining us were fans Stew, Vince, Donna, and Rick. While each episode of Fans With Bands includes quite a bit of fun, this one with Finality is off the charts. We learned not only the importance of pre-bedtime rituals, but that Joe was a Bob Ross child!
Finality are working hard to wrap up their new album with plans to release this spring. We talked with the band about their history, creative process, and ongoing love for music. We jumped into our favorite topics such as first albums and first concerts. As always, we wrapped it up with a discussion on pizza toppings.

Wednesday Jan 26, 2022
We checked in with Andrew and Philip of Tyrant. Joining us were fans Kevin, Ann, Autumn, Don, and John. Tyrant have used the long pandemic layoff to release the single “Poison The Well'' and work on completing the recording of their next full album. The plan is to mix and master this spring with a summer 2022 release. Additionally, Tyrant plans to hit the road in April with more dates in the summer to support the new album.
Our talk with Tyrant delved into their history and writing process (these guys started when they were 13 and 16!!). Andrew and Philip shared a great story about seeing their first concert with KISS. For a change of pace, we went around the horn to hear what everyone has been reading lately. As always, we touched on our favorite topics including first records and pizza toppings.

Wednesday Jan 12, 2022
Wednesday Jan 12, 2022
We checked in with Matt, Tony, Chris, and Scott of 1000 Yard Stare. Joining us were fans Stew, Erocka, and Nick. However, it should be noted that we weren’t quite sure if Erocka was just hanging out or perhaps lurking. 1000 Yard Stare are back in action after the long pandemic winter. With new drummer Chris, they are feeling good about creating new music and getting back out to performing shows.
We talked about the sound of 1000 Yard Stare. In particular, we attempted to define the experience that the band would like listeners to have. This brought us around to how the band crafts music. We had a great chat regarding who everyone would enjoy hanging out while sharing a beverage. Dave Grohl please get in touch with Chuck. As usual, we touched on our favorite topics including first records and pizza toppings.

Theandric
Wednesday Dec 29, 2021
Wednesday Dec 29, 2021
We checked in with Paul, Bill, and Aaron of Theandric. Joining us were fans Ryan, Geoff, Mary, Nina, and Matt. Theandric’s new album Flight Among The Tombs will be released on February 11, 2022. Paul was kind enough to get me an advance copy and this album is brilliant. Fans of Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Fates Warning, and Savatage will lose their minds listening to Theandric.
We talked about how Theandric went from a solo project into a full fledged band. We touched on songwriting and their methods for working out new music. Matt from Cruthu (a Fans With Bands alumni) joined and expressed his love for the new Theandric. Let’s hope these two bands can do a huge tour of Europe and the States to share their stellar music with the world. As usual, we touched on our favorite topics including first records and of course pizza toppings.
Sit back, grab your favorite beverage and check out this great conversation full of laughs with Theandric.

Salvation‘s End
Wednesday Dec 15, 2021
Wednesday Dec 15, 2021
We checked in with Brandon, Tim, Dave, Sean, and TJ of Salvation’s End. Joining us were fans Krystal and Tony. Salvation’s End recently released the new single called “Monarch” off their upcoming album. Tim (vocals) contacted me to share the new music. I was blown away and ecstatic to have Salvation’s End on the show. They play highly aggressive yet melodic metal that I absolutely love. If you imagine a love child forged from Nevermore, Judas Priest, and Exmortis, you’ll have an idea of the blazing metal glory that is Salvation’s End.
We talked about how Salvation’s End came together and their work on the new album. Along the way we touched on our favorite topics including first concerts, musical influences, first records and of course pizza toppings.
Sit back, grab your favorite beverage and check out this conversation with Salvation’s End and their fans.
